Tis The Season!`

While holidays like Christmas and Thanksgiving may be the favorite part of the year for many people, for those like me in retail it's actually a nightmare. The season of giving is synonymous with the season of buying and that means that everyone will be attacking a retail store in their near future.

Companies know that, even though customers will probably be going into their store for a specific item, this is the time to just double down on in-store advertising and promotions to further increase sales. And let me tell you, it is not always fun. Yes, we do play some holiday music and jam out to that for a bit, but due to the amount of pressure management is put under by corporate, the holiday cheer is kind of sucked out of the atmosphere. Year after year, sales are expected to increase during the holidays, and this year they're expected to grow substantially. A professor had told me that, in e-commerce alone, sales are expected to reach $124 billion.... that's crazy!

Being in a retail store all day, makes you think though: the fashion industry is the most polluting industry, and just seeing all these clothes essentially being pushed on to the consumer, makes me wonder how long will it actually last. Are we so focused on numbers we're not thinking about waste and the environment.

Honestly, I'm just hoping that I will make it home alive after working the holiday madness, in one piece, with all limbs attached.
